This book project examines gun regulation “in action” by looking at how state agents understand and enforce gun law – including public law enforcement and gun license administrators – across three states with very different gun laws, Arizona, California, and Michigan. The project has received funding from the Connaught New Researcher Award at the University of Toronto and a Faculty Small Grant from the Social and Behavioral Sciences Research Institute at the University of Arizona. Thanks to the 79 police chiefs in Arizona, California, and Michigan who sat down with me to talk guns; data collection is now complete.
